‘Welcome to the City’ series welcomes alumni to network and connect

The Office of Alumni Engagement on Sept. 12, hosted the second annual Welcome to the City event, which hosted alumni of all ages in seven metro areas across the country in a celebration of Campbell community.

“Welcome to the City” allows both new graduates and young alumni to reconnect with classmates and expand their Campbell network within their local communities by meeting other alumni in their cities.

Events like Welcome to the City underscore the Office of Alumni Engagement’s emphasis on connection and maintaining Campbell relationships. The event allows alumni, especially recent graduates to network, meet new people in their city, and maintain friendships that they began during their time in college. The connections made at Campbell are important, and continuing those relationships can be beneficial, both professionally and personally.

The Welcome to the City event series was held in Charlotte (N.C.), Cleveland (O.H.), Raleigh (N.C.), Richmond (V.A.), Washington (D.C.), Wilmington (N.C.) and Winston-Salem (N.C.). The event was well-received, and more than 130 alumni were in attendance across the seven locations. Two new locations, Washington D.C. and Cleveland, Ohio were added to the event this year as well.

Alumna Danielle Barnes, ’15 reiterated the importance of maintaining connections, as well as the value of events like Welcome to the City.

“As a North Carolina native who moved to Richmond for work, I am so appreciative of the Campbell alumni family.” Barnes explained. “The Welcome to the City event was a fantastic opportunity to meet both alumni who are well-established in Richmond and who are new to the city. It is a great experience to connect with fellow Camels and share stories about our time at Campbell. I look forward to attending again next year!”

In addition to Welcome to the City, the Office of Alumni Engagement hosts a variety of annual events throughout the year to engage alumni of all ages. Our next event is Homecoming & Family Weekend, which is fast approaching on October 19. Alumni are invited to join a campus tour, stop by our open alumni open house, or come through Alumni Village on your way to the football game. Alumni Village is a gathering place where all Campbell graduates, friends, and their families are welcome to reconnect with fellow alumni, enjoy food trucks and live music, and then cheer on the Fighting Camels.
