Design professor’s logo chosen for Hungary exhibition
A logo created by Dejan Mraović, assistant professor of graphic design and coordinator of Campbell University’s Graphic Design program, was selected for the Ampersand 2022 4th International Logo Exhibition in Budapest, Hungary.
The exhibition was held Oct. 13-29, 2022, in the Nador Gallery, located in the historic center of Budapest. It was established in 1997 by the Society of Downtown Artists, a non-profit arts society formed in 1994.
Logos, logotypes, pictograms, icons and emblems created by designers from 36 countries were selected for the show.
Mraović’s client for the logo was Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The church organizes a free community dinner every month. Mraović said his goal was to make “a sleek and recognizable logo which can easily communicate with an audience even without a title or textual explanation.” Dinner (fork) + church (Latin cross) = “dinner church,” and there is a third subliminal message in the artwork — the logo’s silhouette is designed to look like the front façade of a cathedral.
