Graphic design student’s illustration included in magazine

A personal monogram created by recent Campbell University graphic design graduate Breonna Tolson-Tucker was selected for the 74th issue of Creative Quarterly, an internationally recognized graphic design and illustration magazine based in New York.
BT is a typographic logo Tolson-Tucker created for her for ART 209 Typography I class last spring. Students in the class were assigned an authentic personal logo using their initials. According to Assistant Professor of Graphic Design Dejan Mraovic,  emphasis was placed on the perfect legibility and seamlessness of both characters. Tolson-Tucker researched the work of Italian typographer, type designer and publisher Giambattista Bodoni for her work.
“Although her creation appears effortless, we spent many hours fine-tuning the design,” Mraovic said. “This work was strongly influenced by European typography from the 18th and 19th centuries.  BT logo was not only selected for the print edition of Creative Quarterly, but it was printed across the entire page.”
Tolson-Tucker’s logo also won the Gold Award at Graphis New Talent Awards 2024 in Manhattan.
