Women of Campbell Law: Katelyn Gallimore ’26
Katelyn Gallimore ’26 is a North Carolina native who chose Campbell Law School for its closeness to home – Raleigh – and for the array of experiences Campbell offers including clinical experience and international programs.
When asked about the highlights of her experience so far at Campbell Law, Gallimore said it was a hard question because there were so many things she could talk about. She noted her professors and extracurriculars have contributed to an amazing school experience.
“Really, all of the clinical experiences have been great,” she said, adding that serving as a teaching scholar has been especially beneficial to her as it is her goal to someday become a professor in her own right and share her experiences.
Gallimore’s path to law school was straight forward after a change in majors at Western Carolina University. She said she knew what she wanted to do and went after it. She had the opportunity to intern at Wake County Family District Court during her 1L summer, when she was able to get court experience as a judicial law clerk in family law. During her 2L summer, Gallimore said she enjoyed interning with some more “wonderful” people at New Direction Family Law.
Gallimore is as busy outside of classes as she is in them. She currently serves as a Senior Comments Editor for Campbell Law Review, and recently had her student Comment published. She also serves as the president of the student group Women in Law, which recently won the Student Organization of the Year award; as a teaching scholar for Wills & Trusts, Business Organizations and formerly for Criminal Procedure; and as a mentor for 1L students as they start their journey in law school.
Throughout her comments about her law school experience, the words “fulfilling” or “fulfillment” come up repeatedly.
Her advice to students is to get involved and “never forget why you came to law school,” Gallimore added. One of her biggest enjoyments in law school has been her involvement in Women in Law.
She lauds the professors at Campbell Law, emphasizing that students should never hesitate to ask for help if needed, in any capacity. Campbell Law has an environment conducive to finding exactly what you need as a law student to develop into a future legal professional.
Gallimore says she found the purpose she needed simply by talking to and being exposed to people with different goals and roles within Campbell Law. She has also been inspired to further her journey with Women In Law in no small part because of the experiences she was able to take part in.
Following graduation, Gallimore plans to join New Direction Family Law as an associate attorney.
