Campbell Law 45th Anniversary Alumni Spotlight: Patricia Caddell ’19

Nominee: Patricia Caddell, Class of 2019

Caddell graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in psychology in 2015. She then left the mountains of North Carolina to attend Campbell Law School where she graduated with honors in 2019. Following her law school graduation, Caddell promptly returned to Western North Carolina where she worked at a small law firm handling criminal, family and juvenile law cases. Caddell recently joined Pisgah Legal Services, a non-profit organization dedicated to pursuing justice by providing legal assistance and advocacy to help low-income people in Western North Carolina meet their basic needs and improve their lives. She currently provides free legal aid in the areas of domestic violence, family and landlord/tenant law at the newly established Macon/Jackson County office. Because the Macon/Jackson County office is newly established, Caddell also participates in community outreach. This includes connecting with other local resources, presenting to referral sources and participating in fundraising events.

Nominators:  Hannah Wallace and Lindsey Martin, Class of 2019

Wallace graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2016 with a degree in English and political science. After graduating from UNC, she attended Campbell Law from 2016 to 2019. She currently lives in Charlotte, where she clerks for the Honorable Kenneth Bell of the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. 

Martin graduated from Pittsburg State University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in psychology. After working as a paralegal, she attended Campbell Law from 2016 to 2019. She currently lives in Panama City Beach, Florida, where she clerks for the Honorable Michael J. Frank of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida. 

How does your nominee embody your definition of leading with purpose?

To us, “leading with purpose” means giving back to your community. Growing up in rural Western North Carolina, Patricia saw firsthand the many challenges faced by those in her community. After graduating early from Western Carolina University and moving to Raleigh for law school, Patricia moved back home to begin her legal career helping the underprivileged in Western North Carolina. She currently works for Pisgah Legal Services, where she provides free civil legal aid to the most vulnerable people in her community, including those living in poverty, at risk families, disadvantaged children and seniors. Patricia strives daily to help the individuals in her community improve their lives. Patricia’s dedication to her community is just one way she embodies the Campbell spirit of “leading with purpose.”
