Campbell Legacy Spotlight: Libby Bynum & Amy Baker Bynum (‘92)

Libby Bynum, a rising sophomore from Garner, felt God in her decision to come to Campbell University. “I did not want people to [think] that I was attending Campbell solely because my mom is a Campbell aluma,” she said. “I feel as though God truly called me to Campbell.”

Libby is currently studying kinesiology pre-physical therapy, aspiring “to become an athletic trainer at a university and help with sports ministry.” She has gained inspiration from the setting around her, as she is currently involved with both campus ministry and intramural sports, along with joining Greek Life and the club Pre-SOMA. “So far, I have loved Campbell and the many opportunities it has provided me,” she said.

Her mother, Amy Baker Bynum (‘92) is a graduate from Campbell’s College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and now works as a pharmacist, which made Libby’s decision to attend Campbell even more meaningful. “Being a legacy student means that Campbell is special to me and my family,” she said. “I have seen the many opportunities Campbell has been able to provide for us and I could not be more thankful.”

Libby has navigated difficult waters during her time at Campbell, from changing her major to kinesiology, to adjusting to on-campus life, but says that the people around her have been instrumental in guiding her through these transitions during her first year. Her mother is just as pleased with her daughter’s decision, saying, “Her choice shows me that she appreciates all the aspects of Campbell that I loved; small town feel with vast opportunities, caring atmosphere with flourishing aspirations. I know she will thrive there.”

Even though Libby grew up with Campbell University as a part of her life, she still acknowledges, “Campbell has been greater than I even expected.”
