Marketing Club Competes at AMA International Collegiate Conference in Chicago, IL
On March 17th, a group of four students – Casey Glover, Grant Semke, Vinh Bui, and Zachary Kas – and Associate Professor of Marketing, Dr. Kate Lawrence, embarked on an adventure to Chicago, IL, where they competed at the American Marketing Association International Collegiate Conference.
There were over 60 top business schools represented at the conference, and Campbell University ranked high against the competition.
Casey Glover and Zachary Kas competed in the Marketing Strategy Competition – They finished as one of the top 8 international finalist teams and received an Honorable Mention for their work.
Vinh Bui, Casey Glover, Grant Semke, and Zachary Kas competed in the Marketplace Simulations event – They placed 6th overall.
The students valued this chance to travel, network, and compete. In their words:
Zachary Kas, Senior Marketing Major and MBA Candidate, shared, “Having the chance to travel to a new city, network with marketing students from around the world, learn from marketing professionals, in addition to testing our skill set in competitions was an amazing experience. I’m proud of everyone for stepping out of their comfort zone and representing Campbell University in an excellent manner.”
Dr. Kate Lawrence shared, “We had a blast. Our group stayed in Lakeview East, traveled using the metro system, ate at local restaurants – most importantly we enjoyed deep dish pizza – and were able to explore the local architecture. The students got a good taste of Chicago.”
Grant Semke, Senior Marketing & Sport’s Management Major, said, “This was a fantastic trip to end my college experience with. I was able to build on existing relationships and create new ones. I participated in my first ever sales competition. Afterwards, I was able to network with some of the judges and meet a few interesting professors in the process. I always believe it’s good to put yourself out there and make people remember talking to you.”
The Lundy-Fetterman School of Business is proud to welcome these students back to campus, and excited to watch their growth inspire others.
