Donors receive naming plaques for Fund for Campbell contributions
On Monday, July 24, donors to the Fund for Campbell attended a luncheon at the Bernard F. McLeod Sr. Admissions & Financial Aid Center – an event held in appreciation of their generous contributions.
Donors were recognized for their gifts to the Fund for Campbell with naming plaques placed in buildings and areas around campus, including the McLeod Admissions Center, Jones Hall, and the Oscar N. Harris Student Union.
The following Fund for Campbell donors were honored:
· James and Jennifer Adcock
· Wil and Stephanie Bass
· Sara-Beth Testerman and Summer Cook
· Steve and Karen Gaskins
· Knox and Emily Gibson
· Gene and Patricia Harmon Lewis
· Katie and Josh Smith
· Townsend and Emily Quinn
“It was an honor to host an event with alumni and friends who have been so incredibly generous to Campbell University,” said Britt Davis, Vice President for Advancement. “Their gifts not only named a space on campus – they are providing support that directly impacts our students with demonstrated financial need.
“We like to say, ‘these people bleed Campbell orange,’ and I really believe this about this special group of alumni and friends. They are all-in, and fully committed to the continued success of Campbell University and our students. The example of this generous support is also a wonderful example to younger alumni and students who are the future of Campbell.”
A gift to the Fund for Campbell is an investment in Campbell’s students. Wil and Stephanie Bass knew that when they made a gift in honor of Wil’s parents, Guilford W. Bass, Sr. (’70) and Janet Small Bass (’68). Wil (’91), a legacy family member at Campbell, understands first-hand the importance of creating opportunities for future Campbell generations.
“Stephanie and I were happy to support the Fund for Campbell while honoring my parents’ legacy at Campbell. For more than 70 years, Campbell has been an important part of our family’s lives,” Wil said. “My grandfather, Lonnie D. Small, started working at Campbell Junior College in 1950. During his 39-and-a-half-year tenure at Campbell, he served as the Business Manager, Vice President for Business and Treasure, and secretary to the Board of Trustees.
“We know our contributions are allowing current and future students to create their own Campbell story and we’re honored to have the opportunity to give back in a meaningful way.”
Naming opportunities that support the Fund for Campbell allow the University to recognize donors who support Campbell’s mission and who understand one of its greatest needs: flexible funding to help advance our mission – graduating leaders – and allows the university to direct fund where they are most needed.
