Lessons Learned About the Roles that Race and Poverty Play in Rural Economies

In 2012, The National Rural Funders Collaborative released a case study exploring economic transformation in rural areas. Recognizing the poverty crisis in rural America and how it drastically affects these communities across the nation, a group of funders made it their mission to address the issue head on– forming the National Rural Funders Collaborative(NRFC). This report reflects upon the successful projects and learned skills that the organization supported over its 10 year existence. The NRFC outlined ten lessons learned from the field and proposed seven areas of focus that deserve continued efforts.
