Cody’s Story

After serving as a licensed director for Colvin Funeral Home & Crematory in Fayetteville, NC for roughly six years, I was led to return to my hometown of Morganton to further my career. I became a part of the Hart Funeral Service family in 2018, initially as an embalmer. In July of 2019, I inherited the position of location manager and continue in this capacity presently.

Hart Funeral Service is the oldest African-American funeral home in Buncombe County. Since its inception, it has had a reputation for providing excellent, compassionate, and quality service to families in their time of bereavement. As location manager, I am responsible for the firm’s daily operations, funeral arrangement conferences with families, pre-need counseling, life insurance, notary public, and the preparation of the deceased. Additionally, I serve as a community liaison for the funeral home by providing resources and information regarding pre-planning funeral arrangements and other business matters pertaining to final wishes.

My sincere desire is to demonstrate the compassion, comfort, and sensitivity of Christ as I aid each family through the difficult process of grief. My experience at Campbell has definitely equipped me for this role by challenging me to expand my theological and sociological worldview. As a result, I am better able to serve and minister to the needs of individuals from all ethnic, religious, and economic backgrounds.
