BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell alumni gathered June 4 for Camels in the City, an annual Alumni Association event designed to strengthen connections among graduates and build local Campbell networks in communities across North Carolina and the country.

This year’s event brought alumni together in Charlotte, Fuquay-Varina, Raleigh, Wilmington, Winston-Salem as well as Richmond, Va. and Austin, Texas. Hosted at local restaurants and gathering spaces, Camels in the City offered alumni the opportunity to reconnect with former classmates, meet fellow Camels living nearby and celebrate their shared Campbell experience.

A group of people are gathered in a cozy restaurant with dark wood paneling and green booths. They are standing and smiling around a sign that reads "Camels in the City! Raleigh." The walls are decorated with vintage advertisements and memorabilia. Orange and white pennant banners hang above the group. The atmosphere is warm and friendly.

“We always have a great time hosting our alumni back on campus, but there is something extra special about getting to visit alumni in their home communities,” said Director of Alumni Engagement, Shelby Howard (’20). “We are so grateful for those who came out to Camels in the City and hope that it is just the beginning of additional regional engagement. Alumni interested in potentially establishing or joining a local chapter are encouraged to complete the Local Chapter Interest Form.”

For many alumni, especially recent graduates, events like Camels in the City provide an opportunity to establish connections in a new city while maintaining ties to the University.

In addition to networking and fellowship, attendees enjoyed the chance to win Campbell Alumni Association giveaways.
