How does your nominee embody your definition of leading with purpose?

It is with great pleasure that I nominate Mr. Todd A. Jones for the 45th anniversary alumni spotlight. I have known Todd for the past 20 years and have seen him successfully evolve from a young professional, eager to make a mark on the practice of law as well as his community, into exactly what he set out to be, a reckoning force in his business and the community he serves.  Todd embodies leading with purpose because he intentionally and selflessly puts others before himself and seeks ways to better those around him to help the justice system work for all.

Todd has been an active volunteer in many organizations but he takes pride in continuing to lead through his association with Campbell Law. He was a founding board member and served as the first chair of the Campbell Law School Alumni Association. Even after his time on the board, Todd has remained involved in the association as well as strongly encouraged other alumni to join the board and participate in all activities. In 2016, Todd was a recipient of the Campbell University 2016 Distinguished Alumnus Award. Todd consistently serves as a mentor for law students through the Campbell Law Connections Mentorship Program. Over the years, Todd has employed many talented summer law clerks and newly licensed attorneys who he sought through Campbell Law’s Career Services program. He has also proudly sponsored Campbell Law trial advocacy teams.

Outside of Campbell Law, Todd has received the Blanchard Outstanding Young Lawyer Award from the North Carolina Bar Association, was named to the North Carolina Pro Bono Honor Society and has been recognized as a 40 Under 40 Leader by the Triangle Business Journal, presented with the Leader in the Law award from North Carolina Lawyers Weekly as well being named Legal Elite by North Carolina Business Magazine. He has served as a leader in organizations such as the UNC Gillings Alumni Association and Public Health Foundation, the UNC General Alumni Association, the Affordable Community Residence Association (ACRA), the Downtown Housing Improvement Corp. (DHIC), as well as various other construction trade, civic and church groups. He is a frequent speaker, author and is a certified Superior Court mediator.

After becoming aware of the call for nominations Todd Jones was the first person that came to mind. His desire to continue to push forward doesn’t end now as he continues to look for other areas where he can be of assistance, help others and lead with purpose. He goes above and beyond in giving back to Campbell Law, the community, non-profit organizations, as well as his business and personal life every day.
