Daniel Simon Receives the 2025 AOE Dean’s Award For Excellence

At Campbell University, we take pride in recognizing individuals who embody our mission of empowering students and fostering academic success across all learning environments. This year, we are proud to celebrate Daniel Simon, the recipient of the 2025 Adult & Online Education (AOE) Dean’s Award for Excellence.

Daniel’s impact on Adult & Online Education is both wide-reaching and deeply personal. His teaching spans across multiple AOE campuses, including his meaningful involvement in the Second Chance Initiative, which offers incarcerated individuals the opportunity to pursue higher education. His commitment to accessibility and inclusivity is evident in every classroom he enters—physical or virtual.

What sets Daniel apart is his ability to adapt and connect. He crafts lessons that resonate with a variety of learning styles, and his dedication doesn’t end when the class does. As one student shared, “He took time after class to help me with questions that I didn’t fully grasp until he broke down the concepts for me, making the learning lessons click.” Another noted, “He is an amazing professor who is able to make lessons interesting and engaging through an online medium.”

Beyond the classroom, he is an active presence at Campbell University events, always seeking new ways to support and elevate the student experience. His innovative mindset, compassionate teaching, and tireless work ethic make him not just an outstanding educator, but a true cornerstone of our AOE program.

Daniel shared:  “I am truly blessed to be working with the outstanding AOE program at Campbell and humbled by this recognition. The opportunity to serve active military and incarcerated students has reminded me of why I began a career in education nearly 35 years ago. Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world, and the influence of a good teacher can never be erased.”
