Donor Impact Spotlight: Richard Carden ’18

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell University gave Richard Carden (18) far more than a degree in Trust and Wealth Management. It provided him with a community that helped him grow academically, personally and spiritually, and where he built relationships that continue to guide his life today. Campbell was a place for learning and opportunity,” he reflects. It allowed me to develop meaningful relationships, grow personally, and position myself for the future.”

Getting involved was the highlight of Richards student experience at Campbell. From intramural sports and Greek life to the Camel Crazies, campus activities and peer mentoring, he immersed himself in all Campbell had to offer. He noted that the community and experiences you were involved with, no matter where you were on campus, was what made student life truly special.

Equipped with a degree in Trust and Wealth Management and an influential alumni network, Richard entered the wealth management field ready to excel. Now serving as a wealth advisor with Vanguard in Charlotte, he says Campbell gave him the skills and confidence to walk into rooms early in my career and hold my weight.”

Today, Richard’s commitment to Campbell has only grown since graduation. He joined the Campbell University Alumni Association Board of Directors, helping serve as an ambassador for the university. Campbell provided me so much, from opportunities to education to lifelong friendships. Serving on the alumni board allows me to help grow that mission and connect with other alumni.”

Signature Campbell Alumni Association events like Homecoming and Camels in the City highlight the impact of that work. Watching recent graduates form connections back in Buies Creek or in new cities and seeing relationships built through alumni programming excites Richard about the future. The passion that other alumni have for Campbell is what keeps me motivated,” he said. Their energy inspires me to do more.”

Giving back, in his view, begins with volunteering and being present. Whether through mentoring, attending alumni events, or supporting Campbell athletics, Richard believes every effort helps strengthen the Campbell alumni network. Its all about planting seeds,” he explained. The more we give back, the more valuable our degree becomes, and the stronger Campbells future will be.”

As he looks ahead, Richard hopes to help create innovative ways to engage the next generation of alumni. The journey doesnt end when you cross the stage at graduation… Campbell is with you for life, and the more you invest in that experience, the more rewarding it becomes.”
