DPT student, Chase McKinney, felt well-prepared for roations

Name: Chase McKinney
Program: Doctor of Physical Therapy
Anticipated graduation year: 2023
Undergraduate Institution: Averett University

How are you making a positive impact? Campbell prepared me for my previous clinical rotation in the hospital. I was more knowledgeable, compassionate, and caring which helped me provide the best care for my patients while maintaining their needs and safety considerations.

Why did you choose CPHS and what benefits do you believe you are gaining from attending Campbell? Did you connect with the “Campbell family?” The Campbell family makes me feel included. That is a benefit Campbell has provided me. I know whenever I need help, whether professional or personal, I have people to lean on.

Please summarize your personal, business, and academic journey. I am currently a DPT 2 student. I previously graduated with a BS in Sports Medicine and Wellness with a minor in Biology from Averett University. I played baseball for four years and ran cross country for three years. I was also President and Chaplain of my fraternity three out of the four years I was in undergrad.

At Campbell we believe in purposeful lives and meaningful service. What legacy are you leaving/do you hope to leave? I hope to provide a caring and individualized service that is specific and meaningful for every patient I encounter here at Campbell as well as enjoying moments with my friends in the program.

Reasons why prospective students should choose Campbell over other Graduate and Professional Schools:

  • Professors care about you learning
  • Programs willingness to adapt when needed
  • Smaller cohort
  • Community service opportunities
  • Pro bono clinic
  • Patients attending Neuro and PEDs labs
  • Hands on experience in anatomy and labs
  • Dive further into MSK skills (manipulations, mobs, etc.)
  • How the professors challenge you to think
  • They teach you how to advocate for your profession
  • They teach you how to be a great therapist, not just pass the boards
