Fresh options, variety abound in new student union dining options
The countdown to the opening of the new student union is on, and as construction wraps up we’ll be revealing details and sneak peeks for each of its spaces and amenities.
When the student union opens, it will become the home base for Campbell Dining and the main residential dining facility on campus. That means six new dining stations with state-of-the-art equipment and exhibition-style cooking.
This open kitchen approach to cooking lets you see your order being made right in front of you, emphasizing quality and freshness and allowing for more interaction between patrons and chefs.
By popular vote, the new dining facility has been named Gaylord’s Kitchen. It will house a barbecue smoker to create delicious southern favorites at the Home Cooking station. Other stations will include a pizza and pasta bar, Global Grill with cuisine from around the world, a made-to-order deli and a coffee shop named the All Day Bakery & Breakfast Nook.
On the second floor, a smoothie station will serve students and staff as they study, meet with friends or wait for an event in the movie theater or ballroom to start.
Among all the new changes to Campbell Dining, the student center will bring some familiar campus favorites. Oasis Food Court and its Boar’s Head Deli will relocate to the new building, albeit with a few updates, such as a POD Express where students can grab snacks and drinks on the go.
