Micah Simonsen ’17 appointed to N.C. Oil and Gas Commission

North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein has appointed Campbell Law School alumnus Micah Simonsen ’17 to the North Carolina Oil and Gas Commission.

The Commission consists of nine people who are responsible for establishing a modern regulatory program for the management of oil and gas exploration and development of the State, and the use of horizontal drilling and fracturing.

Simonsen, who is a North Carolina native, currently practices environmental law at Simonsen Law Firm in Edenton. There he serves as legal counsel to the North Carolina Petroleum and Convenience Marketers Association. His practice is focused on serving petroleum marketers around the state.

While in law school, Simonsen participated in the Campbell Law Innocence Project and was a member of the Campbell Public Interest Law Students Association. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in history and sociology.
