PGA Golf Management is a hole in one decision

Campbell University’s, Lundy-Fetterman School of Business is home to one of just 18 PGA-accredited golf management programs in the U.S.

Parker Spear, Vice President of the Campbell PGM student association, is a senior receiving his undergraduate degree in PGA Golf Management and an MBA candidate in the school’s 4+1 MBA program.

The Campbell University PGA Golf Management Program certified graduates receive a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in PGA Golf Management, 16 months of valuable co-op work experience, and PGA Golf Management 3.0 Program education through Level 3 testing.

Graduates are immediately eligible for membership in the PGA of America.

“The most impactful part of my time in the PGM program was completing the 16 months of internships prior to graduation,” Parker stated. “The program’s connections in the golf industry allowed me to work at some of the best golf operations in the country, highlighted by my most recent internship at The Country Club in Brookline where the 2022 US Open was hosted.”

This innovative four- and one-half-year program is designed to prepare students for a variety of employment opportunities in the golf industry.

“I feel very prepared to join the workforce as a PGA professional after I graduate,” Parker shared.” I have learned and developed skills in areas such as leadership and communication in the various roles I have held in the program. I hope to apply those skills on top of the industry skills I have learned during my time in the program for a seamless transition into life after college.”

Students in this program gain valuable work experience and enhanced playing and teaching skills, while fostering a sense of community through enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf.

The mission of the PGA Golf Management University Program is to recruit diverse and talented students and develop them into committed professionals by providing a comprehensive and progressive educational program designed to prepare future PGA Members for a life-long career in golf.

Parker shared, “My favorite part of being a student in the PGM program at Campbell is the bond that everyone in the program has. From the moment I came on campus I was welcomed into the group and have found friends for life during my time here.”
