Professor’s poster designs selected in international competitions

Campbell University Assistant Professor of Graphic Design Dejan Mraović had typographic posters selected for two international competitions recently.
His poster, “Iraq 100” was selected for the 4th Peru Biennial in Lima, Peru, the largest art competition in South America. There were 22,256 submitted artworks, and only 560 works were selected (a 2 percent selection rate) for the competition. The Peru Biennial was created to promote the artistic, creative and cultural industry in the region. The exhibition was up between Dec. 6-12 in the Aeronautical Museum of Peru.
A second poster — created to promote the 5th annual Red Dirt International Film Festival in Stillwater, Oklahoma — was selected for the Experimental Graphics (Экспериментальная графика) international art competition in Russia. Mraović’s work joined artists from 17 countries.
The international competition aims at “promoting the creativity of designers and graphic art masters, identifying the best works in the field of graphic experimentation, supporting authors who are bold in their visual experimentation, cultivating respect and interest in society for graphic culture, and creating a favorable environment for contacts and exchange of experience between Russian and foreign educators.”
Mraović earned his master’s degree in graphic design from Ohio University. He attended the College of Visual and Applied Arts in Belgrade, Serbia and the School of Design, in Belgrade.
