Second Chance Initiative Leader Recognized
Campbell University is proud to celebrate Assistant Dean Kelly Morin for receiving a prestigious award recognizing her service to the North Carolina Prison Education Consortium and her outstanding leadership in advancing prison education. As a champion for educational access and student success, Morin’s work continues to transform lives across North Carolina and exemplifies Campbell’s mission.
As Assistant Dean with Adult & Online Education, Morin leads Campbell University’s Second Chance Initiative, an innovative program that provides high-quality college education opportunities to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals throughout the state. Through this work, she has helped create pathways to degrees that foster personal growth, successful reentry, and long-term achievement for justice-impacted students. The award acknowledges Morin’s dedication to expanding educational opportunities for individuals who may have previously believed higher education was out of reach. Under her leadership, the Second Chance Initiative has become a model for how higher education institutions can partner with correctional facilities to open doors, create hope, and empower students to build brighter futures. Morin’s impact extends beyond Campbell University.
She served as Chair of the North Carolina Prison Education Consortium, a statewide network committed to expanding access to quality higher education in correctional settings. Through this leadership role, she helped strengthen collaboration among educational institutions, correctional partners, and community stakeholders working toward a shared vision of educational equity and opportunity.
In reflecting on the recognition, Morin noted that the success of prison education efforts is the result of a shared commitment among dedicated colleagues and partners. While this award honors Kelly Morin’s individual leadership, it also shines a light on the collective efforts of the Campbell University team and the life-changing work taking place through the Second Chance Initiative. Every student served represents the power of education to create opportunity, restore dignity, and strengthen communities.
Congratulations to Kelly Morin on this well-earned recognition. Campbell University is grateful for her vision, dedication, and unwavering commitment to ensuring that educational opportunity remains accessible to all learners, regardless of circumstance.
Through leaders like Kelly, Campbell University continues to demonstrate that education is not simply about earning a degree. It is about creating pathways to purpose, transformation, and hope.
