Student Philanthropy Committee | Why Give?

The Student Philanthropy Committee is a group of Campbell leaders who are committed to creating awareness and educating their peers about the importance of giving back to Campbell through service and gifts as students and future alumni.

Junior and senior members encourage their classmates to begin their support of Campbell University by making a gift during their senior year. Members serve as the face of the Senior Legacy campaign and work with the Office of Annual Giving to plan and implement campaign promotions and events.

We asked Committee members to explain why they give to Campbell. Read what they have to say below:

Rachel Davis

Class of 2019 | English and History

“I give to Campbell because of the opportunities that I have been given through my time here. The people at Campbell are personally invested in my education and they have given their time, energy, and resources to ensure my success. I am able to be here because someone gave their money towards my education. I have beautiful classroom buildings paid for by alumni and friends of the university. I have a future because of Campbell University, and I give to ensure that students to come will have a future here, too.”

Lauren Taylor

Class of 2020 | Business Administration

“I give to Campbell because I truly believe there are endless opportunities for students to grow and learn here. Campbell is a family full of students, staff, and faculty that want to see their peers succeed. I have had so many opportunities within the Alumni and Admissions offices, as well as in the Business school to gain skills both in the classroom and in my job opportunities. Campbell is growing both academically and physically, which proves to me that this is a place I want to be. I give because Campbell is worth it.”

Gray Barnhill

Class of 2019 | Communication Studies

I give to Campbell because this is where I call home. Over the past 4 years, I have seen this university grow and it has become a place that is near and dear to my heart. Without others who gave in the past, I would not be able to be here, and I believe others should have the same opportunity that I have had. I love to see how much impact I have made thus far and how much of one I can make in the future! Plus, giving back to my home means there is always a place for me to come back to!”

Jessie Bee

Class of 2019 | Communication Studies

“I give to Campbell because alumni and donors before me have paved the way for my future. Without this generous support, I would not have all the opportunities I have been afforded. Most importantly, I give because I am proud to call Campbell University my home.”

Lori Kaitlyn Babb

Class of 2020 | Biology

“I give to Campbell because I’ve been given more than I could’ve ever asked for. This university has provided an avenue for me to grow in a multitude of ways: academically, personally, and spiritually. I would have never been able to attend Campbell had it not been for the many generous givers before me. I give to Campbell in preparation for the students to come; may they come to have Buies Creek be more than just a campus but a home.”

Kennedy Stroud, ’18

Class of 2020 | Master of Business Administration

“I give to Campbell because this beautiful University has given me a home and family for the past 5 years and I want to ensure that current and future students are able to have the same amazing experiences and opportunities that were made available to me. I give to the Opportunity Scholarship Fund, because without it I would not have been able to continue my education at Campbell for the last year and a half.”

Alexa Scattaregia

Class of 2019 | Communication Studies

“I give to Campbell because of all of the opportunities that Campbell has given me. I am so proud to be a camel and am so grateful for the time I have had on campus. Campbell has been my home for the past four years and I want to be able to help give future students the same opportunities that have been given to me.”
