The COVID-19 Vaccine is Here: What You Need to Know

The pharmaceutical industry has worked diligently to develop the COVID-19 vaccine. Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are currently available to all who want it, but due to an immediate limited supply, it is being released in stages. Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require a two-shot series, and you must receive the same shot both times.

Find Your Spot for Your Shot

Vaccines will be available through local vaccine providers. Call for an appointment when it’s your turn. Find participating vaccine providers at YourSpotYourShot.nc.gov, or call the toll-free COVID-19 line 1-888-675-4567.

Take your shot at no cost

The COVID-19 vaccine will be available to everyone for free, whether or not you have health insurance.

You need two shots to build up your immunity

After a person gets the first dose, they will need to come back 3 to 4 weeks later for a second dose. You will get a printed card and email reminder of when to get your second dose.

Continue to practice the 3 Ws

Until everyone is immune, the 3 W’s are still essential: Wear a mask. Wait 6 feet apart. Wash your hands. That’s the best way to protect each other until most people have a chance to get vaccinated.
