Two Campbell degrees prepared alumna for a career with purpose

Rev. Leah Anderson Reed (’08 & ’11 MDiv )
Current job: Minister with Community at First Baptist Church

Leah’s Story

In my current role, I help generate opportunities for our church to engage in the life of our local community, especially our downtown neighbors. I wear various hats in this role that involve overall responsibilities with hospitality, communications, visitors, and assisting our neighbors living in poverty.

Some days I feel like a social worker, a public relations/marketing specialist, an entrepreneur, and a minister all rolled into one! It’s a beautiful, unique blend of the passions God has given me for ministry.

When I think about my seven years at Campbell University, I am flooded with these life-altering moments that shaped me into the person I am today. It’s the place where I gained the confidence to lead through Campus Ministry, the place where I learned to read the Bible through an exegetical lens, the place that ignited a passion for justice within me as I studied liberation theology, and it’s the place where I met my husband.

I’m deeply grateful for my Campbell University education, the professors and mentors that listened and taught, and for all the friends that I now consider family. I was uniquely equipped and prepared for the work I am doing today through my years spent in Buies Creek!
